To enhance your brand's identity and ensure seamless email delivery, you can set up a custom subdomain and sender domain with Churnkey. Follow the steps below to configure your settings.

Setting Up Your Custom Subdomain

  1. Choose Your Subdomain.
Decide on a subdomain that aligns with your brand, such as "billing.yourdomain.com" or "payments.yourdomain.com". Ensure this subdomain is not in use elsewhere.

  2. Configure DNS Settings

    • Access your DNS provider's dashboard.

    • Add an A record with the IP address: 37.16.25.177

  3. Verify in Churnkey

    • Log in to Churnkey's dashboard.

    • Navigate to Settings in the bottom left corner.

    • Select Domain from the top menu.

    • Enter your custom subdomain and click Begin Subdomain Verification.

    • Wait for the verification process to complete.

Adding a Sender Domain

  1. Access Churnkey Settings

    • In the Churnkey dashboard, go to Settings in the bottom left corner.

    • Select Email from the top menu.

  2. Add Your Sender Domain:

    • Enter your sender domain, e.g., "acme.co".

    • You will see two types of records: TXT and CNAME. Copy them!

  3. Update DNS Records.

    • Grab the TXT and CNAME records you copied in the previous step.

    • Add them to your domain in your DNS provider.

  4. Verify Your Domain

    • Once the records are added, click Verify.

With your custom subdomain and sender domain configured, you are ready to start sending Payment Recovery Emails.

Frequently Asked Questions and Common Issues

What subdomain should I use?

Ideally, it should be a custom subdomain that is exclusively being used in Payment Recovery emails.

The subdomain setup we use is strictly transactional. Generally speaking, we're informing email providers that the content that is being delivered is extremely relevant to the customers. If the subdomain is being used elsewhere for promotional content, you'll be at the risk of having customers report your custom domain as spam. As a consequence, Churnkey's deliverability will be hurt.

How long does it take for the subdomain to be verified?

Verification typically takes a few minutes. However, it may take longer depending on your DNS provider and if your custom subdomain had a previous A record. If you encounter issues, please contact us at [email protected]

Subdomain Not Verified After Adding A Record.

Some DNS providers have a proxy setting. Ensure this setting is disabled if verification fails.

Can I use multiple subdomains?

No. It's only possible to use one subdomain at a time.
